SIBU, 5 MAY 2026 The Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) hosted the TechFrontier Explorer (TFE) x Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Training (SCENT) Cohort 2 Demo Day on 5 May 2026 at the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), Sibu.

The event was officiated by SDEC Chief Executive Officer, YBhg. Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman, and brought together university leaders, industry partners, government agencies, mentors, and students to mark the summit of this year’s programme.

Moreover, the Demo Day served as the final platform for the participants to showcase their innovation solutions, following a structured development journey that began with a bootcamp in March and continued through a series of mentoring sessions and the pre-demo evaluations. Throughout the programme, participants were guided in refining their ideas into practical, hands-on solutions with real-word relevance.

As part of the Demo Day, nine finalist teams pitched their innovation, namely Aurumville Technologies, MedTech Integrated Triage Patch (5 Flat), Skyes, Broken Pasta, Innovibe, Starlight Team, MyCareer, Seekr, and BTS. Collectively, these projects represented a diverse range of ideas and demonstrated the creativity, initiative, and problem-solving capabilities of emerging student innovators in Sarawak.

The TechFrontier Explorer programme focuses on supporting students at the pre-commercialisation stage by guiding them to transform academic ideas into executable applications. In doing so, it contributes to SDEC’s broader Tech to Impact initiatives, which aim to establish a structured and continuous pathway for innovation development.

Simultaneously, the TechFrontier Incubator supports researchers at a later stage by advancing research towards commercialisation and market adoption. At the same time, these initiatives form a connected ecosystem that nurtures innovation from early ideation through to real-world impact.

The Cohort 2 Demo Day also built on the momentum of the programme’s inaugural Cohort 1 which was previously held at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus in 2025. As the programme continues at UTS, it reflects SDEC’s ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for students to engage in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Nonetheless, awards presented during the event included the Grand Winner and the People’s Choice Award, recognising the effort, creativity, and potential demonstrated by participating teams.

Overall, the TechFrontier Explorer x SCENT Cohort 2 Demo Day highlighted SDEC’s continued efforts to support young talent, strengthen collaboration across academia and industry, and contribute to the growth of Sarawak’s innovation ecosystem.
