KUCHING, 24 NOVEMBER 2025 – The Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) today launched the Sarawak SaaS Accelerator (SaSAR), a flagship programme under the Sarawak Digital & Innovation Ecosystem aimed at accelerating the growth of software startups, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers.

The launch event, held at Makeramai Makerspace, Plaza Merdeka Shopping Centre, was officiated by Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman, Chief Executive Officer of SDEC, accompanied by Tim Robinson, Principal, AWS, and Wendy Kho, Head of Strategic Initiatives, AWS Malaysia.

The inaugural cohort brings together 23 participants from across Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Sabah, Penang, and Sarawak. Over three months, SaSAR will provide technical mentorship, cloud enablement, business development guidance, market access support, and investment readiness training.

The programme is delivered in collaboration with AWS Malaysia as Supporting Partner, providing cloud infrastructure, training, and technical enablement, and NEXEA Ventures as Accelerator Partner, which leads structured mentorship, market validation, and venture readiness components.

According to Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto, SaSAR offers a focused pathway for software-driven companies to grow and compete at scale.

“Our goal is to help these companies move beyond product development, to scale their user base, generate sustainable revenue, expand into new markets, and become investment-ready,” he said.

He added that SaSAR complements SDEC’s Digital Village Accelerator (DiVA) and supports the aspirations of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint.

“Through SaSAR, we aim to support the development of homegrown software solutions that compete globally and contribute meaningfully to Sarawak’s digital economy.”

SaSAR is expected to strengthen SME digital adoption, enhance Sarawak’s digital competitiveness, and contribute to the broader growth of Malaysia’s technology ecosystem.
