KUCHING, 18 FEBRUARY 2025 – The Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), in collaboration with Kintone Southeast Asia Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian subsidiary of Japan’s Cybozu Inc., successfully hosted the Digital Transformation Seminar for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) at The Waterfront Hotel. This initiative is set to revolutionise digital adoption among Sarawak’s SMEs by providing seamless, scalable, and cost-efficient business solutions.
Building on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during IDECS 2024, this partnership underscores SDEC and Kintone’s commitment to equipping businesses with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital landscape.

Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi, Chairman of SDEC in his speech emphasised that the critical role of digitalisation in enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of Sarawak’s SMEs. He also highlighted that this strategic partnership is a catalyst for accelerating the region’s digital economy.
With Kintone’s no-code platform, SMEs can now opt for only the modules they require, ensuring optimised costs while maintaining flexibility as their businesses grow. This modular approach enables enterprises to streamline operations, improve customer engagement, and boost overall productivity without the need for specialised IT expertise.
The seminar featured interactive demonstrations, showcasing how Kintone’s adaptable digital tools can automate workflows, enhance collaboration, and drive business efficiency. Industry leaders and government representatives, including Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman (CEO of SDEC), Mr. Tsubasa Nakazawa (Managing Director, Kintone Southeast Asia Sdn Bhd), and Mr. Shingo Hiraki (First Secretary, Embassy of Japan in Malaysia), were in attendance alongside 150 participants from various key sectors.
