KUCHING, 19 SEPTEMBER 2025 – The International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak 2025 (IDECS25) is set to explore the transformative power of “AI & Green Innovation: Growth, Challenges, and Community Resilience” at its 8th edition.
Taking place from 22nd to 23rd October 2025, at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), the highly anticipated event will be inaugurated by Sarawak Premier, The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg.
Hosted by the Sarawak Government, IDECS25 is jointly organised by the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), and Sarawak Information Systems (SAINS) with Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (Bioeconomy Corporation) as the Strategic Partner.
IDECS25 will explore critical topics including AI-Powered Economic Development, Smart Cities & Digital Governance, Circular Economy, Sustainable Development & Biotechnology and more. The conference will showcase how AI, big data, and green technologies can be leveraged to navigate industrial shifts, climate imperatives, and global digital connectivity, fostering a future where technological advancement aligns with environmental stewardship and societal well-being.

Speaking at the offi cial press conference, YB Dato Sri Haji Julaihi Bin Haji Narawi, Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak, remarked, “IDECS is a government-led initiative that has long served as a platform for global thought leadership, and this year, we are taking that mission a step further. Our theme, ‘AI & Green Evolution,’ is a testament to the Sarawak Government’s unwavering commitment to aligning our digital economy with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) imperatives and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). We are focused not only on technology itself, but also on its responsible application to secure a sustainable future for our communities and the planet. IDECS aims to continue to be a regional catalyst for collaboration and innovation, a place where strategic policy and real-world progress converge.”
NBiOSHOWCASE: A Strategic Co-Located Event
A key component of IDECS25 is the co-located National Bioeconomy Showcase 2025 (NBiOSHOWCASE). Organised by IDECS25 Strategic Partner, Bioeconomy Corporation under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia (MOSTI), NBiOSHOWCASE will feature the latest advancements in biotech and bio-based industries.
These include commercialised technologies, innovations, and products addressing global challenges such as food security, circular economy, healthcare, and wellness. This partnership reinforces IDECS25’s holistic approach to sustainable development, linking digital and green advancements, including biotechnology, to foster resilient communities and economies.
Amirrul Rizwan Mohd Abd Hafi z, Lead Secretariat of IDECS25, commented that the conference aims to translate high-level discussions into tangible applications that benefi t businesses, communities, and the environment. “By championing AI and green innovation, we aim to empower local communities, inspire SMEs, and attract vital investment into Sarawak’s growing green and digital economy,” said Amirrul.
The esteemed lineup of keynote speakers for IDECS25 includes:

- James Barrat, author of “Our Final Invention: Artifi cial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era,” will deliver a keynote presentation entitled “The Intelligence Explosion: When AI Beats Humans at Everything” during the offi cial opening keynote.

- Dr. Ayesha Khanna, globally recognised AI Expert, Entrepreneur, and CEO of Addo, will deliver a keynote session entitled “Resilient by Design: Shaping Inclusive Futures in an AI-Driven World” at The Future track.

- Dr. Justin Cohen, one of the world’s leading experts in Human Transformation, will deliver a Leader’s Masterclass, entitled “The Augmented Team: The Missing Link in Leadership Development”.
