KUCHING, 27 JULY 2024 – The Sarawak Digital Mall campaign on TikTok Shop and GoDigital 2024 initiative were launched today by Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) at the Showcase Usahawan Sarawak (SUS) 2024 event held at Bintang Megamall Miri.
Present to launch the campaign and initiative were Deputy Premier of Sarawak YB Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Chief Executive Officer of SDEC Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman, and Partnership Manager for TikTok Shop Malaysia Puan Nur Azre.
The Sarawak Digital Mall campaign is an initiative by SDEC and MINTRED in collaboration with Tiktok Shop that aims to boost the e-commerce adoption and sales performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Sarawak. Through this campaign, SDEC and Tiktok Shop have delivered e-commerce training and seller incubation programmes to more than 1,000 entrepreneurs in Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Serian, Sri Aman, and Kapit since June 2023.
In 2023, with solid support from MINTRED, these trained sellers were given promotional incentives and seller missions to boost the visibility of their products in the Tiktok Shop app, resulting in a 118% increase in orders and an 86% increase in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) compared to before the start of this campaign.
Following the success of this initiative in 2023, MINTRED, SDEC, and Tiktok Shop launched the exclusive Sarawak Digital Mall campaign on the number one video-sharing app in the region, aiming to extend this opportunity to more Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Sarawak.
The Sarawak Digital Mall campaign went live on TikTok Shop earlier this month and will end in December 2025. This digital campaign will highlight Sarawak products and all participating Sarawakian sellers in the app to boost their visibility and attract more customers from the platform’s existing user base.
Meanwhile, GoDigital is an initiative under the ‘Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang’ (BKSS) 5.0 and is part of the Sarawak Digital Mall. Marking its fourth year, the initiative provides grants of up to RM10,000 for the purchase of hardware, software, and digital services aimed at assisting MSMEs in digitalising their businesses.
In line with the Sarawak Government’s aspiration to accelerate digital transformation and develop digital-ready entrepreneurs across Sarawak, to date, the initiative has benefitted 1,100 MSMEs with a total of RM11 million grants disbursed and an increase in revenue of up to 30%.
Application for the 2024 GoDigital grants open on 1 August 2024 and will end on 31August 2024. For more information about SDEC’s various programmes, follow its WhatsApp channel at bit.ly/kamekdigital.
